Circle Technology Makes On-the-Go Presentations Possible for the Columbia River Economic Development Counci

The CREDC (Columbia River Economic Development Council), which works to advance the economic vitality of Clark County, Washington, through business growth and innovation, knows that the most effective way to expose prospective businesses to the region is to hit the road. Spending much of its time showing business owners impressive sites and landmarks throughout the region, the CREDC needed to find a way to present vital facts and figures while on-site, without bulky binders or distracting personal devices. When the organization incorporated Circle Technology’s portable presentation system into their business development tours, they quickly realized they had a perfect solution on their hands.

“Our work involves bringing clients serious about relocating to the region on site tours, and presenting the value proposition for doing business in Southwest Washington,” said Bonnie Moore, Vice President of Business Growth and Innovation at the CREDC. “We are able to use the Circle Technology system to conduct high-quality, high-tech presentations on the road, no matter where we are. Whether we’re showing a client potential building ideas at a dirt lot, or hosting a bus tour group of 30 people on a bus, the Circle Technology system allows everyone to get all of the information they need, when they need it, in an easy-to-read manner.”

The Columbia River Economic Development Council, which started taking advantage of the benefits of the Circle Technology solution nearly a year ago, uses a system configuration that features Circle Host Software, 10 Custom Circle Displays and Circle Display Stands, and Circle Carrying Cases, which keep the displays charged at all times, ensuring that even if a tour runs long, the displays won’t lose power.

“We had been looking for a way to get the most out of our site tours, and when the Circle Technology system was pitched to us, it just seemed like the perfect fit,” added Moore. “Steve Hix, the President of Circle Technology, is a respected community leader, so when he told us that he had the ultimate solution that would allow us to present information while on the go, we were eager to try it. As a result, the way we are able to offer our clients an even higher level of visibility, by conducting meetings and presentations wherever they need them to take place. The Circle Technology system enhanced the quality of our meetings by giving us the flexibility to conduct business on the road.”

Circle Technology’s portable presentation system offers an on-the-go solution that allows a presenter to screen share any presentation or content, via the Circle Host Software, from their PC directly to the Circle Displays in the hands of their audience. The crystal clear 1280x800 resolution Circle Displays allow presentations to be put directly into the hands of the audience, without bulky, printed presentations or the seemingly endless distractions that could be found on their own devices. The Circle Host Software is compatible with Windows® 7 and 8, making it possible for the software to be downloaded to any PC that uses Microsoft OS.

What’s more, the Circle Host Software makes it possible to present without any connection to the Internet, thus eliminating any worries about faulty connections. The software also allows for multiple Circle Displays to be connected at once, giving presenters the opportunity to put their presentation into the hands of a larger group of people at the same time. The software works on a self-contained, encrypted WPA2 password protected network, powered by the standard wireless capabilities embedded in today’s PC’s, allowing for a secure and private connection between the presenter’s PC and the audience’s Circle Displays. The network can be adjusted on the go without the hassle of having to generate and distribute new passwords and user names, making the task as easy as possible for the presenter. Real-time sharing and collaboration is an integral element of all presentations, and the Circle Host Software allows the presenter to control the flow of their presentation.

Circle Technology’s presentation system packages are available in a number of configurations all designed to meet a variety of presentation needs. NanoLumens® Appoints APG Displays As Its Exclusive Canadian Distributor

NanoLumens®, the pioneering Norcross, Georgia-based company that last year introduced the world’s first large format flexible LED display technology, today announced the appointment of APG Displays, of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, as its exclusive Canadian distributor, effective immediately, according to an announcement made by Rick Cope, President & CEO of NanoLumens, Inc. At the same time, NanoLumens announced that it was expanding its product line with the production of flexible LED displays in virtually any shape and size to meet customer requirements.

“APG Displays has two decades of experience supplying high impact display solutions for the temporary rental and permanent installation of innovative large screen video displays throughout Canada, which is a very important market for NanoLumens,” Cope said today. As Canada’s most complete professional audio-visual services provider, APG Displays delivers a complete solution, from the initial design and specification process right through to on-site technical assistance and troubleshooting. This is exactly the kind of commitment and support that will help drive our market growth in Canada.”

According to David Weatherhead, Vice President of APG Displays, “NanoLumens LED Flex Displays deliver a truly unique value proposition to both our rental and sales customers. NanoLumens' thin, lightweight displays represent years of research and development by some of the brightest minds in the global display industry. The result is a product without compromise whose unique attributes create a range of exciting new possibilities for integrators. Their technology is literally changing the face of our industry.”

First introduced in 2010, the NanoLumens LED Flex Display remains the only solution of its kind. It conforms to fit any surface, is thin, lightweight, and energy efficient, and can be mounted as easily as a work of art. The revolutionary NanoLumens LED Flex Display shattered the traditional usage limitations of large format LED displays.

According to Cope, the company’s flexible LED displays eliminate the structural requirements and limitations of traditional large format displays because they are so lightweight, and they are bright enough for any application while consuming significantly less energy than other display technologies.

NanoLumens’ LED Flex Displays can conform to concave and convex surfaces and even wrap around columns. They are made from seamless modules that introduce for the first time the possibilities of displaying in shapes other than squares and rectangles. At less than two inches thick, a 112-inch display weighs less than 90 pounds, making installation as easy as hanging a wall tapestry. By simplifying installation and lowering energy consumption, NanoLumens displays can drastically cut the cost of adding and maintaining a large format display for any application. And because all NanoLumens displays are sealed, fan-less, waterproof and dustproof, they are robust and durable. Compared with other current display technologies, LED technology is brighter, offers higher contrast and saturation, has a longer lifespan and can be repaired much more easily.

NanoLumens Flex Displays offer retail outlets, corporations, hotels, A/V rental companies, malls, transportation centers, stadiums and arenas of all sizes the world’s first lightweight, energy-efficient and completely configurable flexible display solution. The displays are the ideal solution for creating effective out-of-home advertising, exciting and unique trade show exhibits, and turning walls into digital architecture in corporate lobbies or at hotels and airports.

The company’s select installations include a curved-wall installation at NASCAR Media Television Studios in Charlotte, North Carolina, and an outdoor display at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. In addition, the company’s technology has been recognized by Entrepreneur magazine as a 2011 future-proof tech trend and was cited by The Wall Street Journal in its 2010 Technology Innovations Awards.

ELAN g! Control System Earns Its Sea Legs In New Custom Yacht Installation

When Tim and Stephanie Bearden of Jonesboro, Arkansas decided to build a new custom 107’x20’ Sharpe houseboat, they made sure that every last detail met with their exact specifications. In addition to the five bedrooms, three bathrooms, full kitchen, full bar and extensive boat-wide audio/video systems, one of their biggest requests was that it must include the ELAN g! Control System, the latest in state-of-the-art entertainment and control technology.

Ryan Heringer, president of Jonesboro, Arkansas-based Sound Concepts, previously installed an ELAN system in the Bearden’s home in 2008, and he was sure the new ELAN g! Control System would be perfect for their new houseboat.

“First and foremost, the Beardens wanted a top-of-the-line multi-room, multi-source audio/video system that was simple to control and adjust. I have installed the ELAN g! System in homes and businesses, so for me the first boat installation was an exciting idea,” said Heringer. “Since it is IP-based and can be controlled with the g!Mobile app on iPhones, iPads and any Internet-connected PC, the g! System is perfect for this application. Now the Beardens can relax and enjoy their time on the boat and make any changes they need to the audio, video, lighting, surveillance, heating and air conditioning systems from anywhere on board.”

Just like a house, preparing a 4,000 square-foot boat for guests can be a chore. The heating and air-conditioning needs to be adjusted, lights need to be turned on, and everybody has to know how to operate the audio and video systems in the different rooms so the owner can relax. With the ELAN g! Home Control System, the Beardens can be sure their houseboat is ready to entertain before they even leave home. With a few touches and swipes on an iPhone they can set the lights, heating, air-conditioning, and boat-wide audio and video to fit their needs for that particular day. And while they are out on the water, they can even keep an eye on their three-year-old daughter and her friends through ELAN g! with an IP camera and microphone installed in her special “kids’ cuddy”.

“In addition to having full system control on my iPhone,” remarked Tim Bearden, “my wife and I love that we can monitor the kids’ cuddy right on our iPhones. Now we can entertain guests or relax on the top deck and know that our kids are playing safely in their room below deck.”

The two-story houseboat features nine flat screen TVs, 38 speakers and three Sunfire subwoofers divided into eight video zones and 12 audio zones. The family and guests can access a wide variety of entertainment sources including four DirecTV feeds, Internet streaming movies from Vudu, a Samsung Blu-ray player, an iPod dock, AM/FM tuner and SiriusXM satellite radio.

All those aboard can access the g! controls through a multitude of interfaces including nine ELAN TS2 touch pads located throughout the upper and lower decks, an ELAN TS10 10-inch touch panel in the kitchen, an ELAN HR2 remote, ELAN g! On-Screen-Display on all nine TVs, and three iPads that will remain on board. And to ensure the family and guests can always stay connected, the houseboat has a DSL connection when docked, a cradle point Internet router for mobile Web access, and a commercial-grade cell phone signal booster.

Heringer had previously installed ELAN control systems in two houseboats for the Beardens, but this was the first time the new IP-based ELAN g! Control System got a chance to take to the sea.

“As great as the old systems were,” said Bearden, “we were still carrying a remote around that we had to switch to each zone as we walked from room to room. With ELAN’s new g! Control System, we can control everything with simple icon-based controls on a few iPads that we bought just for the houseboat. It’s so convenient that soon we’re going to have Ryan upgrade our home system as well.“

Available starting at $1860 for a single-room, four sub-system control solution, the ELAN g! Series Control System can be expanded quickly and cost-effectively to enable whole-home control of every room appliance. ELAN g! provides users with the most uniform and intuitive icon-based control from their favorite devices, including TVs, touch screens, touchpads, PCs, iPhones, and iPads. The standardized interface works across platforms, so that the trendy g!Mobile app users love on the iPhone appears and works similarly on ELAN touch screens, valets and handheld remotes as well as users' televisions and mobile devices. And the system's IP backbone makes it just as easy to control the system from across the room - or across the globe.
