NanoLumens Introduces The Industry's First Six-Year, Zero Failure Warranty Program

NanoLumens® today announced a precedent-setting Six-Year, Zero Failure Warranty Program, effective for all NanoLumens displays purchased from September 1, 2013. According to Karen Robinson, Executive Vice President of Business Development, the new warranty covers everything, down to a single LED.

“NanoLumens displays are designed, engineered, and manufactured to the very highest quality standards,” Robinson said today. “Our Six-Year, Zero Failure Warranty Program underscores our belief that NanoLumens displays are second to none in quality.”

According to Robinson, other LED display manufacturers can leave customers exposed to a 0.5% LED failure rate. “It may seem low at first glance. However, if you own a display that has one million LEDs, you will face the reality that 5,000 individual LEDs need to be defective before your warranty covers repairs. At NanoLumens, this is unacceptable. We promise customers zero failure coverage, an industry first that establishes a new benchmark for other LED manufacturers to try to meet.”

The new warranty covers the entire display from corner to corner, including all parts and controller devices, sold by NanoLumens to end users, resellers, and distributors, effective from the date of shipment. NanoLumens warrants to the end user that the display will be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use as intended by NanoLumens for the warranty period and applies only to the displays as originally installed at the end user location. For more information about the new warranty program, please contact Clay Montaigne at cmontaigne@nanolumens.com.

Award-Winning Homebuilders Use ELAN g! To Capitalize On Housing Market Recovery

Consumer confidence is high, new home sales surged 8.3 percent in May and new home prices have climbed month over month in 2013, so it’s clear the housing market is recovering. Builders need to find ways to stand out and capitalize on this market growth, and one way to do so is to offer things that others don’t even consider, like total home control. Award-winning builders Jim Blansfield of Danbury, Connecticut-based Blansfield Builders, Inc. and Josh Wynne of Sarasota, Florida-based Josh Wynne Construction have both partnered with local integrators and found huge success using the ELAN® g! Entertainment and Control System to help close new home sales.

“I’m a believer in ‘the new normal’ way of thinking,” Blansfield said, “and with the affordable and expandable control solutions made possible by ELAN g!, home control is the new normal! In the past two years, I’ve closed several new homes by demoing the g! system for prospective clients. I have a g! system in my own home, so I’m the first person to say how easy it is to use, and my clients are consistently impressed that I include technology in my designs and recommendations, because many other builders minimize the importance of home technologies.”

Since partnering with the Danbury integration firm Structured Home Solutions, Blansfield has built 13 homes that include ELAN g! systems of varying size and complexity. Whether the new buyers were looking for enhanced security, HVAC scheduling, lighting, irrigation and pool controls, or super simple whole-home audio and video systems, every client received a custom solution tailored to their specific needs. From a business perspective, Blansfield knows that his knowledge, appreciation and passion for technology place him in an entirely different category from other builders.

“Any builders who resist change and aren’t prepared to talk to clients about integrated home control solutions will hurt themselves in the long run,” he said. “I even push remodel clients to install the ELAN g! system because it adds so much value to the home, and brings it into the 21st century more so than new countertops or an updated bathroom could ever do.”

Josh Wynne has had similar success integrating advanced home technologies with the ELAN g! system, and has teamed up with Sarasota integrator SmartHouse Integration to offer his new clients the best that modern home technology has to offer. Wynne is building four new LEED Platinum certified homes in 2013, each featuring the ELAN g! system to control core subsystems such as AV, HVAC, security, lighting, window shades, irrigation, garage doors, pool controls and surveillance cameras.

According to Wynne, “I’ve strived to make a basic home automation package standard for every new home I build. When smartphones came on the market a lot more people started to see how easily these advanced systems could integrate into their homes and help them live more simply and comfortably, and I’ve used that culture movement to benefit my business. Most of my projects are relatively big budget, around the $1 million mark, but there’s absolutely no reason that a $250,000 home shouldn’t include a multi-room audio system, an integrated HVAC or lighting system that saves money and energy, or a security and surveillance system that can be accessed remotely from any smartphone or tablet.

Both builders agree that determining the buyers’ interests is key to selling advanced home control solutions, whether they love music and want multi-room audio or desire heightened peace of mind and would benefit from a mobile-accessible security and surveillance system. From there it’s a small leap to demo the entire ELAN g! system and highlight all the trappings that easy-to-use home control offers. Another thing they agree on is the need to use a reliable, qualified integrator to make the homeowner’s technological dreams a practical reality. That’s why they’ve each partnered with a top integration firm in their respective regions, and worked together to craft custom solutions that make every home the perfect living environment for the owners.

NanoLumens Finds A Better Way To Engage Commuters At New York's Penn Station

Advertisers are constantly looking for new ways to capture and hold the attention of harried and hurried daily commuters, and nowhere is this more apparent than in New York City’s Penn Station, North America’s busiest transit center. To capitalize on the massive daily audience that passes through the station, CBS Outdoor turned to NanoLumens® to provide a unique solution that can’t be missed.

With more than 300,000 daily commuters, advertisers won’t find a more captivating display solution than the NanoSlim® display that hangs directly over commuters heads as they travel through the Long Island Railroad corridor of the station.  The installation marks the first time that a digital advertising display has ever been suspended from the ceiling in Penn Station.

“NanoLumens’ technology is literally transforming a traditional ‘signage’ industry into a ‘customer engagement’ industry,” NanoLumens President & CEO Rick Cope said today.  “No other company has the technology to allow clients to engage their customers in literally every and any type of environment, and our new Penn Station display underscores this ability.”

According to Cope, the ability to place the display in this location was possible because it weighs less than 700 pounds and uses less than one-third of the energy that a comparable LCD, plasma or projection setup would require. With a lifespan of 100,000 hours (more than 11 years running 24 hours a day), the NanoSlim display was not only the most eye-catching option, but also the most cost-effective. In fact, a lightweight LED display is the only viable option for a hanging display in a brightly lit environment, because LCD and plasma displays are prohibitively heavy and require immense support structures.

The 4.5-inch thick, double-sided 126” NanoSlim LED display uses NanoLumens’ 4mm pixel pitch technology to deliver bright, crisp, clear images and video on a display that is seamless and bezel-free, making it one of the most potent messaging platforms in Penn Station.

This installation comes on the heels of NanoLumens recent announcement of several large NanoSlim displays being used to provide vivid, long-life video solutions for the new Sao Paulo Metro Line 4 in Brazil.

NanoLumens NanoFlex Displays Provide Live Video Outdoors At Ontario's 2011 Remembrance Day Ceremony

What are you going to do when you have an outdoor ceremony and need a large, waterproof digital video display that can be set up and taken down quickly? The answer, as APG Displays found, is NanoLumens® 112” NanoFlex™ display. APG Displays, NanoLumens’ exclusive Canadian distributor, supplied two NanoFlex displays to their trade partner Mediaco when Mediaco was called upon to provide a digital video solution for Ontario’s 2011 Remembrance Day ceremony.

Remembrance Day, also known as Armistice Day, is a memorial day that honors all veterans by remembering their selfless courage and commitment on the anniversary of the end of World War I. The 2011 Ontario ceremony featured a speech by Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty and was held November 11 at the Ontario Veterans Memorial at Queen’s Park, Toronto.

According to APG Displays Vice President David Weatherhead, “When Mediaco came to us and said they needed two outdoor displays large enough to be seen from hundreds of feet away, that could be put up and taken down in a single day, the only solution was the NanoLumens 112” NanoFlex flexible display. It’s the only display that satisfies all the needs of this kind of event—it’s easy to put up quickly because it’s very lightweight, it’s super bright so it can be viewed in direct sunlight, it’s viewable from any angle with no loss in picture quality, it’s durable and waterproof for outdoor applications, and it’s more energy efficient than any other display technology available today. And because the NanoFlex display is compatible with virtually all video input sources, using it as a live video display is just as easy as hooking it up to a DVD player.”

According to Karen Robinson, NanoLumens SVP of Marketing and Sales, “With our lightweight, super-bright displays, event producers can now quickly and easily provide large video displays for short events and multi-day festivals. With the ability to move NanoLumens displays from day to day, reduced manpower requirements and significant energy savings over other display technologies, we offer the most portable, versatile and profitable digital video displays available today.”

First introduced in 2010, NanoFlex™ digital displays remain the only solution of their kind. They conform to fit any surface, are thin, lightweight and energy efficient, and can be mounted as easily as a work of art. NanoLumens is the only company in the world able to reliably manufacture ultra-thin and lightweight, easy-to-install and maintain, seamless 6mm pixel pitch flexible LED displays in virtually any shape or size to meet each customer’s unique requirements.

Designed and assembled entirely in the United States, NanoLumens displays are now available in both flexible and non-flexible frames in four product lines: NanoFlex™ and NanoWrap™ flexible displays; NanoSlim™ non-flexible rectangular displays; and NanoShape™ non-flexible round, square, and triangular displays.

NanoLumens NanoFlex Screen Keeps Thousands of Attendees Informed and Organized at UK's GAMEfest 2011

When UK audio visual provider PSP (www.pspav.com) was contracted to provide large digital signage for navigation and information display at GAMEfest 2011, they knew that the NanoLumens® 112” NanoFlex™ display was the perfect solution. The annual week long gaming expo was hosted by GAME, Europe’s leading videogame retailer (www.game.co.uk) at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham, England from September 16-18, 2011.

GAMEfest is an exclusive event for loyal GAME Rewards Card holders that welcomes some of the top names in gaming such as Nintendo, EA and Activision to exhibit their new games and new technologies. The first three days of GAMEfest served as an internal conference for the hundreds of GAME & GAMESTATION store managers, and the next three days the show floor was open to thousands of card-carrying GAME customers.

According to PSP’s Project Planner Gareth Hill, “With thousands of people attending, and three entire halls of the NEC in use, it was imperative to provide the best possible displays for navigating the show floor and communicating the timings of various activities taking place each day.

“This was the first time we have used the 112” NanoLumens screen at a live event, and it is a great product,” Hill emphasized. “We selected the technology largely due to the brightness of the display and its weight—at just 90 pounds it was very easy and quick to install, and the 6mm pixel pitch and brightness meant that it could be seen from all the way across the exhibition hall.”

Because the NanoLumens NanoFlex™ display is so lightweight and durable, it can be installed much faster and more easily than comparably sized displays. And it is perfect for outdoors or large rooms because of its extreme brightness. In addition to being ultra-lightweight and bright, NanoLumens displays can be viewed from any angle or any distance without color shift or picture drop-off.

“There is an increasing demand for high quality, large scale digital platforms at events and exhibitions, whether their application be wayfinding and information giving or advertising and brand awareness. It’s great to have access to new, innovative options for these purposes, and the NanoLumens NanoFlex display really delivers, with specialist flight cases and accessories that make it simple and cost effective to incorporate into the event environment.”

According to NanoLumens President & CEO Rick Cope, “Convention hall owners and show producers are now realizing the unique benefits of the NanoLumens display technology. With the ability to move NanoLumens displays to where they will have the most impact, quicker installation times, reduced manpower requirements and significant energy savings, we offer convention hall owners, show producers and exhibitors the most customizable and profitable digital signage displays available today.”

New California Veterans' Home Points The Way To The Future With Installation of Motion Sensitive LED Lighting

The brand new West Los Angeles, California Veterans’ Home is a state-of-the-art 400,000 square foot assisted living and skilled nursing facility that will eventually be called home by almost 400 veterans and a staff of 700 who will work there. Designed in every respect to help make life as easy as possible for the veterans who will live there, the facility features more than 500 Sentina® plug-in motion-sensing LED emergency lights.

Sentina, the industry-leading manufacturer and marketer of consumer and commercial LED lighting solutions, designed its line of plug-in LED home lighting products for consumers and businesses looking to improve safety and emergency preparedness while cutting energy and construction costs. The Sentina LED-92M, one of the models featured throughout the facility, is actually a four-way emergency light. Fully charged to support motion, darkness, and power outage sensors, the Sentina LED-92M light simply plugs into a wall socket and performs for pennies per day. The light activates only when approached, in darkness, or in a power outage. In all other times, the light remains off. When disconnected from the socket, the light will also perform as an emergency flash light for up to eight hours.

“Our residents deserve the highest level of comfort and care. We wanted to provide them with enhanced safety and emergency lighting for nighttime use and in case of power outages, but we also wanted to avoid construction costs and minimize energy consumption,” said Louis Koff, administrator of the West Los Angeles Veterans’ Home. “To achieve this goal we placed Sentina’s LED lighting products in bedrooms, bathrooms, offices and hallways. One of the things we like most is that residents can place them in their bedrooms wherever is most convenient and useful for them.”

As a result, according to Koff, lights are automatically turned on when residents get up in the middle of the night or walk down a darkened hallway. As soon as the motion sensor detects their presence, the lights turn on. When residents leave the immediate area covered by the motion sensor, the lights turn off. Thus, safety is enhanced and energy is conserved.

“At such a large facility, it is important to contain energy costs wherever possible,” Koff explained. “Thanks to Sentina’s motion and light sensitive LED safety lights, gone are the days of leaving a bathroom or hallway light burning all night long. The majority of residents at the Veterans’ Home are between the ages of 70 and 90, and having nightlight and flashlight functionality available all the time helps to make the facility safer and prevent accidents.”

“Before, some offices and bathrooms would have been pitch dark in a power outage, leaving occupants and staff stranded,” said Koff. “Our decision to install plug-in LED lighting was really a matter of convenience and providing peace of mind to everyone at the home. The price of the LED lights will pay for itself in the long run by eliminating the need to leave standard bulbs burning all night, and because the LED lights last basically forever and never need to be replaced.”

According to Mei Noguchi, President of Sentina, the California Veterans Home is at the forefront of an emerging trend that is only going to grow in importance as the Baby Boom generation ages. “The largest generation in American history will soon be moving in large numbers into a variety of senior living communities. As they do so, enormous new strains will be placed on the owner operators of these facilities. Sentina LED lighting solutions can play a major role in helping owner operators of assisted living communities to achieve the twin goal of enhanced safety at lower energy costs.”

Sentina manufactures and sells a full line of home, office and mobile LED lighting solutions including motion and light sensitive plug-in safety nightlights, timers to automatically control standard house lamps and keychain safety flashlights.

Headquartered in Kenilworth, New Jersey, Sentina™, a division of Teledex, Inc., is a leading manufacturer and marketer of innovative consumer and business LED lighting solutions, household, travel and mobility products that are both energy and cost-efficient. For more than 15 years, the company has proudly met the needs of smart consumers seeking smarter living solutions.
